In New York City, winter is not winter without ice skating. For those who are interested in skating amidst the trees or skyscrapers, ice skating in Central Park offers the best of both worlds. The setting of the rinks in Central Park makes this possible. The rinks are surrounded by trees yet still close to the glittering city skyline. Typically, ice skate rentals are included in the admission ticket along with a guaranteed entrance when the rink is already sold out to the public. For non-skaters, they can still enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park and admire the sparkling city skyline surrounding it. Central Park makes a great reminder of how beautiful Mother Nature can be during winter.

Trump Rink

Previously known as the Wollman Rink, the Trump rink is located on the east side of the Central Park, between 62nd and 63rd streets. Its entrance in the park is at the 59th and 5th avenue. The rink opens from November 1st to March 31st. It also provides skates and lockers for rentals. For new skaters, the rink offers ice skating lessons. During weekdays, the rate for adults is $10.25, $5.50 for children, $4.75 for seniors, and $5.00 per spectator. Skate rental is $6.25 and locker rental is $4.50, taxes are already included. During weekends, the rate for adults is $14.75, $5.75 for children, $8.25 for seniors, and $5.00 per spectator. Skate and locker rentals are the same price with the weekdays’ rates.

The rink is open at 10 am from Monday to Sunday. It is closed at 2:30 pm on Mondays – Tuesdays, 10 pm on Wednesdays, 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9 pm on Sundays.

Lasker Rink

Located in the middle of the Central Park, Lasker rink is in between 106th and 108th streets. Its entrance in the park is at 110th and Lenox Avenue. The rink is open from November 1st to March 28th. It offers skates and locker rentals as well as lessons for beginners. Its daily rate for adults is $6.25, $3.50 for children, and $2.25 for seniors. Skate rental is $5.50 and locker rental is $3.25, taxes included.

It is open from Monday to Friday at 10 am, 1 pm on Saturdays, and 12:30 pm on Sundays. It closes at 3:40 pm during Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. During Tuesdays, the rink closes at 3:30 pm and re-opens at 8 pm to 10 pm. On Fridays, it closes at 5:15 pm and re-opens at 7 pm to 11 pm. Also, the rink is closed at 11 pm on Saturdays and 4:30 pm on Sundays. Moreover, the rink offers skate lessons or winter skating camp on December 21-23 and December 28-30 at 10 am – 3 pm. The rate is $80 per day per person.
